Boston Creative Advertising Agency

Agency

We are what we make.

Our Approach

Multidimensionality is at our core.

The world is increasingly complex and unpredictable. Culture moves at a lightening pace, client categories are being disrupted and consumers are more complex than ever, which means brands and their agencies can’t be just one thing anymore. By focusing on different facets of the brand, we can flex with culture and consumer needs. Having a multidimensional brand also means you can speak to different segments of your audience simultaneously across increasingly complicated paths to purchase and a multitude of channels.

MMB is poised to help clients navigate these complexities with a range of tools and specialized teams.

Our PIVOT operating system is all about creating responsive, integrated marketing that adapts to consumer, cultural, or market conditions. It uses data signals from digital analytics, primary research, and business data to feed back into the process to make smarter decisions and better work.  It’s about a genuine form of integration, bringing together data and creativity. Pivot takes the best of MMB’s award winning creativity and fuses it with best-in-class data and analytics capabilities, laser precise media expertise, and an ultra-agile approach to production.

There are times when traditional production is not a viable solution, which is exactly why we offer Dash—our network of internal and external makers. Whether it's co-directing or shooting stills in our own studio, the goal is to provide our partners with the best possible creative output, regardless of budget. This nimbleness not only makes us faster and keeps costs down, but it allows us to capture more content on-the-spot without charging extra, while also enabling us to build out a library of content for all of our clients. It’s brilliance without the bloat.

Partners

We’re not vendors.

We’re partners. Confidants. Collaborators. Striving to understand and optimize every facet and dimension of the businesses we serve, and the customers we connect with.

Leadership

We’re all A-Team.

FRED BERTINO
Founder, President

Fred is Co-Founder and President of MMB. Under his leadership, MMB has become one of the fastest-growing independent agencies in the country. Prior to founding MMB, Fred was President and Chief Creative Officer at Hill Holliday, which he helped grow from $300 million to $1.2 billion in revenue. He has a deep love for his kids, sports and, most importantly, tuna fishing.

JAMIE MAMBRO
Founder, Creative Director

An Art Director by trade, Jamie co-founded MMB in 2001 after serving as Executive Creative Director and Vice President at Hill Holliday for 10 years. His work has been nationally and internationally acclaimed, not to mention he has an almost equally impressive track record as a numismatist (that’s a coin collector, if you were wondering).

LESLIE INTOPPA
Chief People & Equality Officer

Leslie is MMB’s resident Renaissance Woman, bringing an entrepreneurial spirit, a culinary touch, an IT acumen, and a huge philanthropist’s heart to her many roles here. Leslie serves as both the IT Manager and Director of Human Capital where she helps cultivate the talent, resources, and dynamic creative culture here at MMB. Leslie loves traveling the globe in search of fine wines and new recipes.

ADAM SWANN
Chief Strategy Officer

Adam’s passion is helping brands, businesses and teams to reach their potential. He’s lived in very different cultures in the USA, UK, and Europe, has navigated a wide variety of industries and partnered with some amazing brands such as Toyota, Walgreens, Bank of America, T-Mobile, Bose, Oscar Mayer, Boar’s Head, and UNICEF. Adam is a keen sailor and advisor to several nonprofits and startups.

SARA VENTETUOLO
Director of Production

Sara’s 15+ years of experience have helped her develop a level of resourcefulness and fluency across all mediums which has made her a widely respected force in the industry. When she’s not producing content 18 hours a day, she uses the other six to cook, ski, hit the beach, and take care of animals. So basically, she never sleeps. Which is weird, because she never looks tired.

DAVID REGISTER
Executive Creative Director

David was one of MMB’s original creative forces and has returned after 15 years of brand building. During that time, he helped Fidelity redefine retirement; led creative on Progressive, New Balance, Dell, and CenturyLink; and even co-founded a production company. David’s experience as a writer/director is invaluable for clients looking to streamline the process of making breakthrough work.

STEPHANIE CARCARA
Digital Director

Stephanie brings over a decade of digital leadership experience helping her clients execute more personalized, relevant, and efficient campaigns. She has worked on a variety of brands including Acura, Honda, Louisville Slugger, and Buffalo Trace Distillery. In her spare time she enjoys hiking with her husband and pups in the SoCal mountain ranges.

JON GREELEY
Senior Account Director

Over the past 15 years, Jon’s been instrumental in helping launch new brands and reenergize existing ones for world-class clients like General Motors, Stanley Tools, and Salomon North America. As a former professional freestyle skier and a U.S. Free Ski Open winner, Jon now enjoys 50+ mile mountain bike rides and races. So, if he ever says, “It’s a marathon not a sprint,” trust us, he knows.

BILL BROWN
Managing Account Director

Bill joined MMB in 2012, bringing over 22 years of experience with the Omnicom Group, where he managed a number of big brands like Jeep, Florida Lottery, and Subaru. Outside of work, he’s passionately involved with AFTD, a nonprofit group dedicated to helping people affected by frontotemporal degeneration, a rare brain disease.

CARRIE PARKS
Managing Director

The term “D.C. Lobbyist” doesn’t exactly conjure up images of a mother of three who’s a runner, wall climber, foodie, and voracious traveler. Carrie didn’t think it was an ideal fit either, which is why she pivoted her career toward advertising, where she could better apply her considerable talents and skills to a now rather impressive resume of clients, like CVS, ESPN, and Capital One.

ASHLEY BERNDT
Digital Creative Director, Copywriter

Ashley Berndt is an award-winning creative with a focus on web, social, experiential, branding, and product. She has national campaign experience for clients like BMW, Apple, Google, LG, Allstate, Vanguard, and more. She’s known for her American Express Small Business Saturday work, which remains the most winning campaign in both the brand and agency’s history.

BRIAN HAYES
Creative Director, Copywriter

Two-time Emmy Award–winning writer, Brian has over 20 years of creative brand-building experience. Before MMB he spent eight years at Arnold Worldwide, spending much of his time turning Progressive Insurance’s spokesperson “Flo” into a household name. His work has received every major advertising award. In his spare time, he is an avid runner, part-time surfer, and passionate youth sports coach.

JIM O'BRIEN
Creative Director, Art Director

Jim brings years of experience creating effective campaigns for a wide range of national and global clients, including Progressive Insurance’s iconic “Flo” campaign. He’s received numerous creative awards, including a Gold Lion at Cannes. When Jim’s not working, you can find him on the slopes with his family or inside a cold hockey rink.

NEAL HUGHLETT
Creative Director, Copywriter

Neal brings a wealth of digital and broadcast experience to MMB, creating campaigns and content for clients ranging from Foster Grant and Toyota, to Hannaford Supermarkets and LogMeIn. Prior to joining MMB, he worked at Hill Holliday, TBWA/Chiat/Day, and Fallon McElligott. Neal’s work has been recognized by multiple award shows, including the One Show, Cannes Lions, Webby and IAB MIXX.

CHAD CAUFIELD
Chief Financial Officer

With over 25 years of agency experience in leading client engagements across a multitude of industries, Chad uses that experience to inform his focus on the operational financial management of the agency. Happily married, he is however far more proud of his three amazing daughters (and his unbeatable Chalupa recipe).

DOUG BARBA
Digital Design Director

A technology lover with an artistic eye, Doug has been building brands and digital experiences for clients, including Toyota, Subway, LogMeIn, and Foster Grant, for over 15 years. He recently launched MMB’s new branding by hiking a flag to 17,600 feet for a photo at Mt. Everest’s South Basecamp.

Dogs

Look around and you’ll see dogs roaming the halls of MMB. Why? Because dogs are awesome. And having them around makes all our days a little bit better.
